Due to a full week of getting ready for our Fall Fair and helping a friend with some house painting, I’ve decided to keep this Five Frugal Things post short and sweet with 5 pictures and a few words.
1. I cut a pair of jeans into shorts.
2. We had a field trip to City Hall.
This field trip for homeschooling families included a tour, meeting the mayor, and best of all, free watermelon!
3. Mr. LF and I didn’t exchange gifts for our anniversary.
Mr LF and I celebrated 12 years of marriage this year!

Since we’re paying off our mortgage this year (and getting close!) we decided to keep it simple and go out for dinner. (No other gifts required)
Since one of our favourite restaurants is only a few blocks away from our home, so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and walk there and then take a lovely stroll around our neighbourhood.
4. Many of our supplies for our fall fair crafts were from the thrift store or otherwise recycled.
I always try to find things used before buying new and if you read my recent post on How to save on back to school shopping, you’ll see that I often find school supplies at our local thrift store for a fraction of the price. (and there’s nothing wrong with them!)
5. We ate our $4 watermelon.
This was a fantastic price for a giant watermelon and none of it went to waste.
Love when that happens.

And there you have my frugal five!
Since my post was so short this week, please take the time to hop on over to Clare’s frugal five to find out where she’s saved some money this week. (this week she’s got a tip on how to save on laundry!)
